Escape - Old Time Radio
Vintage Radio: Adventure

Escape

Broadcast from 1947 to 1954, Escape was a superb mystery adventure series that was considered one of the finest radio shows of high adventure. Famous radio stars, such as, William Conrad from Gun Smoke and Frank Lovejoy from Nightbeat were heard in leading or supporting roles on the show. Although not as popular as its sister series, Suspense, Escape still attracted a large number of die hard fans.

Escape has one of the most memorable opening lines in the history of the radio, "Tired of the everyday grind? Ever dream of a life of romantic adventure? Want to get away from it all? We offer you ESCAPE!" Many of the Escape episodes dramatize classic short stories, such as, Kipling's The Man Who Would Be King, or F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Diamond as Big as the Ritz.
